Just days after the F1 world wrote off Donington as having no chance of holding the British Grand Prix in 2010 whatsoever, the Daily Express is claiming that they may still be in the race.
In the article was the following quote:
DONINGTON chief executive Simon gillett claims that he has won a last-gasp bid to keep the British grand Prix after transferring £12 million to Formula one on the deadline last night.
But it may be that the desperate bid not to breach the terms of his contract with F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone was too late, for i understand that it came after close of business.
Gillett contacted Ecclestone in his London office to say that he had managed to raise the funds and that the transfer had taken place, but it may have been after the banks had closed.
