Bernie Ecclestone

Bernie Ecclestone has said Silverstone has two days to sign a contract to hold the British Grand Prix in 2010, meaning negotiations are now over.

It was due to be held at Donington but the circuit could not raise the funds needed.

Silverstone had previously wanted the ‘special rates’ given to traditional circuits, like Spa, Monza and Monaco but Ecclestone said that they were not going to get them.

On the subject of Silverstone’s deadline, Ecclestone said:

“Maybe they have lost their pen but if they don’t find it in the next day or two then that is it.”

“I will pull the race off the calendar and there will be no British Grand Prix to argue about.”
