Below is a list of my top 10 driver of 2009. They may not necessarily be the fastest drivers but they are the drivers who have shown the best results in the circumstances they had.

1. Jenson Button – Of course it is, it had to be. It is his first season in a truly competitive car, he has stayed out of trouble throughout the season, handled pressure well and has been amazingly consistent.
2. Lewis Hamilton – Got results out of an appalling car and finished in positions he had no right to finish in, including 2 wins which should have been 3 after his brilliant showing on Friday and Saturday at Abu Dhabi only for him to have a cruel brake failure in the race.
3. Sebastian Vettel – Picked up  4 wins and finished 2^nd in the drivers standings in only his 2^nd full season in F1. Surely a future world champ.
4. Mark Webber – His first season in F1 was in 2002, yet it took until this one to collect his first F1 wins and he got 2 of them. He had his worst start to an F1 season ever with is horrific bicycle crash yet he had his best season in the car ever.
5. Rubens Barrichello – Took 6 podiums including 2 wins and was slightly more unlucky compared to the other Brawn but at the end of the day he just wasn’t as clinical as Jenson.
6. Kimi Raikkonen – A driver like Hamilton who got decent results out of a poor car, yet he managed only 1 win.
7. Jarno Trulli – Trulli took 3 podiums in the season and had a good year in comparison to previous ones at Toyota including a pole at Bahrain.
8. Nico Rosberg – Rosberg was the highest placed driver in the championship not to collect a podium but proved he did have pace when he picked up the fastest lap at the season opener in Australia.
9. Timo Glock – This is Glock’s 2^nd full season in F1 yet he picked up 2 podiums and had he started the last couple of races he may have matched his much more experienced teammate Jarno Trulli.
10. Fernando Alonso – Rounding off my top 10 is twice world champion Fernando Alonso who still managed 1 podium when he finished 3^rd at Singapore, and picked up 1 pole position and a couple of fastest laps.
