Nelson Piquet won’t be racing in 2010 – for Campos at least!

There was a rumour that Piquet Jr’s father -3 time world champ Nelson Piquet Sr had bought in to the team meaning his son would make up the second seat at Campos alongside Bruno Senna turned out not to be true.

The Spanish website motor21.com were responsible for the rumour but have confirmed the story as a ‘celebration’ of the Day of the Innocents – an equivalent to April Fools Day.

Since the rumour was found out not to be true, Campos’ Daniele Audetto has said:

“In fact, we received an offer from Piquet.

“We have nothing against Nelsinho, even though he was involved in the accident scandal. He is a good driver, fast and experienced.

“But, having signed Bruno Senna, we cannot have two Brazilians. And the supposed 15 percent investment would be less than what other drivers could bring; Italian, Russian, Chinese, German, to name a few nationalities.

“There are ongoing negotiations that will go on until all the details are defined.”
