Michael Schumacher’s former Benetton team-mate Johnny Herbert says the seven-times world champion has got what it takes to succeed in Formula One.
It was revealed yesterday that Schumacher has agreed a one-year deal (with the option of an extra season) to race with the Mercedes Petronas F1 team
Herbert, speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, said:
“The fitness side of it is something that’s very important. But the way Michael keeps himself in shape, I think it’s something that probably isn’t going to be an issue.
“My only thing is, I don’t know of anyone else who has gone out and come back and actually achieved something by coming back.
“But it’s different because of Michael’s mentality. He knows what he wants, he knows Ross Brawn and he had a lot of success with Ross Brawn.”
