Three-time world champion Ayrton Senna has been voted the greatest F1 driver of all time.
In the survey – conducted by Autosport - the Brazilian came out on top, with seven-time champion Michael Schumacher in second and five-time champion Juan Manuel Fangio in third.
Autosport canvassed the views of 217 world championship drivers for their F1 poll.
Jim Clark (5th), Sir Jackie Stewart (6th) and Stirling Moss (8th) were the only Britons to finish in the top 10.
Nigel Mansell, who won his only World Championship with Williams in 1992, came in at 11, Lewis Hamilton claimed 17th place and current champion Jenson Button was ranked 30th. Fernando Alonso was ranked 9th.
The top 10 F1 drivers of all time were: 1 Ayrton Senna. 2 Michael Schumacher. 3 Juan Manuel Fangio. 4 Alain Prost. 5 Jim Clark. 6 Jackie Stewart. 7 Niki Lauda. 8 Stirling Moss. 9 Fernando Alonso. 10 Gilles Villeneuve
Selected other Brits: 11 Nigel Mansell. 17 Lewis Hamilton. 21 Graham Hill. 23 John Surtees. 24 James Hunt. 30 Jenson Button

Can’t agree more with Senna being greatest. One that puzzles me though is Hamilton – great driver, but is it too early to rate him that high up the list? And no one never really rated Jenson Button until he got the Brawn GP and won the world championship. Should he be that high?
Good points Jack:) Jense was too high and Lewis too. Seb too soon to tell as well. In the full list Nakajima was rated the same as Webber. Why? Webber challenged for a title this year and has been in f1 for ages!
I think the list got weaker as it went on but generally I found it ok. The top 10 were spot on in my view.
What irritates me about these lists is that Nuvolari can never get a mention as he was simply too old by the time the championship started and then suffered from health problems. Yet, in my view he was one of the greatest drivers ever. Rules are rules I suppose
ABSOLUTELY TRUE! He was the best
