According to Motorsport-Total.com, 32-year-0ld Nick Heidfeld will be announced as Mercedes GP’s test driver when the 2010 car is launched on Monday in Stuttgart.
Heidfeld would complete an all-German lineup at the new Mercedes team, alongside race drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg.
Motorsport-Total.com quoted Heidfeld’s manager Andre Theuerzeit as saying:
“Nick wants to concentrate fully on his job as a test driver and support the regular driver with his experience.”
Heidfeld has raced in F1 169 times starting in 2000, scoring 12 podiums but never winning a Grand Prix.

If it’s true it’s a big shame I think but also a lot of his own fault. He’s beat Kubica twice (ok 07 he was sort of a rookie…ish well it was his first full year but 09 he certainly wasn’t a new boy) so should have a seat in my opinion
So is Petrov joining Renault,or are they keeping Romain?Bit confusing but yes I think that may be the end of Nick’s career.
Petrov seems most likely to get the seat. I seriously doubt they will keep Romain Grosjean
