After the complaint by leading doctors the Ferrari barcode was ‘subliminal advertising’, Ferrari have decided to remove the Marlboro barcode from their cars for the Spanish Grand Prix onwards.
A Ferrari statement read:
‘Together with Philip Morris International we have decided to modify the livery of our cars starting with the Barcelona Grand Prix.’
This decision was taken in order to remove all speculation concerning the so-called ‘bar code’ which was never intended to be a reference to a tobacco brand.
By this we want to put an end to this ridiculous story and concentrate on more important things than on such groundless allegations.’
What do you think of the new Ferrari livery? Were they right to remove the Marlboro barcode? Leave a comment!

Well I think it looks ridiculous now. I can’t believe Ferrari gave in. If it’s any consolation to them, I’ve devised a devilish plan for the team.

I find it funny after all that rubbish about the branding that the new bit looks even more like a Malboro logo.
If anything everyone who didn’t know it was Malboro now does so this hype has just made everyone think of it when they see the Ferrari now.
Whats wrong with a prancing horse? I think next year, if they’ll have a different sponsor, you’ll see a different image there. That’s some expensive advertising real estate.
Because a prancing horse isn’t advertising Malboro…
I thought Malboro were staying with them for a long time.
“This decision was taken in order to remove all speculation concerning the so-called ‘bar code’ which was never intended to be a reference to a tobacco brand.”
If the barcode didnt have anything to do with Marlboro, why did they consult with them before removing it?
A bit suspect isnt it?
what a crock of crap, doctors ought to mind their own business or stand above the parapit to be egged.
