Jordan

Timo Glock’s first experience in Formula 1 was with Jordan in 2004. He was the team’s test driver for 04 but he got to drive 4 races throughout the season, scoring 2 points with his only points paying position being 7th, although he joins the group who have scored points on their F1 debuts.

Champ Car

For 2005 Glock switched his focus to Champ Car in the USA, where he drove for the Rocketsports team. His best finish was 2nd place in the 13 race championship at Montreal. He finished 8th in the championship, but he won the Champ Car World Series’ Rookie of the Year award.

GP2

In 2006 Glock continued in his bid to secure a full time F1 seat and drove the first half of the season for the BCN Competicion team in GP2. However in the average car he scored average results and made the jump to the faster iSport International team where the faster car began to pay dividends straight away.

He scored a 2nd place in his opening race with the team, and recorded his first victory the race after next at Magny Cours, before repeating that success in Hockenheim. He finished the championship in 4th place.

During the impressive 2006 season, Glock got a test with the BMW Sauber F1 team where his also impressed them, being given the second reserve driver role at the team.

Continuing with iSport International in 2007, Glock took 4 wins on his way to taking the GP2 championship! He came close to participating in a Grand Prix when BMW Sauber’s Robert Kubica had a serious collision at the Canadian Grand Prix and had to sit out the following race, but BMW Sauber gave the drive to their other reserve Sebastian Vettel instead.

Toyota

It took 4 years for Glock to get back in to F1 after his debut, and it was Toyota who gave him his chance following on from Glock winning the GP2 championship in 2007. In 2008 Glock finished 10th in the drivers championship having scored 25 points, with him just missing out on a podium twice – as he finished 4th in Canada and Singapore.

Continuing with Toyota for the 2009 season, Glock scored his first F1 podiums – two in fact. A 3rd place came early in the season at Malaysia and the other podium was a second place at Singapore although that maiden F1 win evaded him. Despite 2 podiums, Glock’s other results that season were inconsistent and he finished 10th again in the drivers championship with 24 points

Virgin Racing

Timo Glock, Virgin, Monaco, 2010

For the 2010 season, Timo Glock drove for new team Virgin Racing. It was a disastrous start, with F1′s first ever completely-CFD designed car being terribly unreliable and with a fuel tank too small to complete a Grand Prix race distance. Glock failed to finish six of the opening eight Grands Prix. His best finish of the season was a 14th at the Japanese Grand Prix, as he failed to score a single championship point in the entire season.

He stayed at Virgin for the 2011 season.
